Epsom Salt Detox Therapy

Epsom salt baths are a safe method for regular or periodic body detoxification. This is a gentle method that offers other health benefits as well as drawing toxins out of the body.

How to Prepare an Epsom Salt Detox Bath

Start with a very clean tub.

Take a short shower, then fill the tub with the hottest water you can stand.

Initially, use l/4 cup of epsom salts poured directly into the water. Over time you can work up to 4 cups of salts. Swish the salts with your hands to help them dissolve fully.

It is common to sweat during this bath. Sweating is the detoxification in action. Don’t be alarmed by profuse sweating, but don’t get over-heated.

It is very important to hydrate during your bath. Ideally, drink a quart before entering the bath. If you are taking a longer bath, drink at least 16 oz. of water during your bath.

Enjoy your bath for 15 to 20 minutes. Over time, you can increase this time to as much as half an hour. If you feel dizzy, faint, or over-heated at any time, add more cold water or leave the bath.

When you have finished your bath, drain the tub and wait until you feel steady before standing and getting out of the tub.

Take a shower and rinse thoroughly.

Rest for at least half an hour before engaging in normal activity and at least an hour before engaging in rigorous activity.

Excellent adjuncts to your epsom salt detox bath: dry skin brushing (before your bath), essential oils and soothing music.

This can be a luxurious, yet inexpensive detox technique.
